Our School

St Joseph's, Stratford is a Catholic Integrated Primary School for students from Year 0 to 8. Its maximum roll is 250, with 5% students being non preference.
The school is on an attractive site, across the road from the Catholic Church and Parish Centre. It is surrounded by spacious grounds, with Hockey, Soccer and Rugby fields, two adventure playgrounds, Tennis/Netball courts, three sun-shelters, and attractive gardens.
There are ten classrooms, five resource rooms, a staff room and sundry offices. A hall has been located onto the school site and a library has been built attached to this hall. A walkway connects these buildings to the senior block. The school is able to access and use the Parish Centre, over the road, as often as required.

School Community

Stratford is a rural town in Central Taranaki of approximately 9500 residents with 5600 urban and 3900 rural. The main purpose of the town is to service the dairy industry. Stratford sits below the eastern base of Mt Taranaki/Egmont.

The children at the school come from both town and country.

The school's community is part of the parish's community - the Parish of the Immaculate Conception. There is a strong sense of fellowship, teamwork and partnership between school and parish, and the school enjoys a high level of parent/parish community involvement and support.
